George Acheson was born at the family home in Co. Roscommon. James oldest daughter Jane left Ireland circa 1835 and resided in Bell Township, Clearfield Co., PA with James brother, George Atchison. In April 1839 Jane received a letter from her father stating that "George is at the moment taller than myself and well inclined to work hard. I hope he will be good." On Dec. 27, 1848, he wrote "I am sure it will give you an agreeable surprise to hear your brother George has Cavetown Manses and Demesne. That is where Parson Mahan lived and died." Amazingly, a little more than a month later, George was dead. The details are unknown, but it seems his death was unexpected.
