Age 82, a daughter of the late Herbert and Harriet Andrews Whelpley.
Joann was a graduate of Saint Benedict Academy. She enjoyed many years of service to both of the local Girl Scout and Boy Scout councils. She enjoyed many of the musicals put on at the Erie Playhouse, as well as traveling.
She is survived by her husband, James Baltes, two daughters, Mary Jo Sekerak (Jim) of Spartansburg, Pa., and Barb Pontoriero (Orie) of Germany, four sons, Rick Baltes, Tom Baltes (Dawn) and Bob Baltes (Diane), all of Erie and David Baltes (Sunny) of California, two sisters, Patricia and Janet, eleven grandchildren, three step-grandchildren, and one great-grandchild.
Burial will be in Calvary Cemetery.
