Graveside funeral services for John Calvin “J.C.” Lamons Sr. 80, of Hooks, Texas, will be held at 2 p.m. Tuesday, Jan. 10, at Pleasant Valley Cemetery with the Rev. Art Switzer officiating. Services are under direction of Heartland Funeral Home of Early.Visitation will be held from 6 to 8 p.m. Monday, Jan. 9, at the funeral home.Mr. Lamons passed away on Friday, Jan. 6, 2006, in Texarkana, Texas.John Calvin Lamons was born on Feb. 7, 1925, in Oakwood, Texas, the son of Alonzo Daniel Lamons and Bewell Walston Lamons. He was raised and educated in Oakwood, and on Nov. 28, 1942, he married Miriam Amanda Sinclair.J.C. joined the United States Army in 1944 and served his country during World War II.J.C. had lived in Hooks for five and a half years, moving there from the May community. He had worked for Moranco as a tool pusher until he retired in 1988. He was a Baptist and was a member of the American Legion.Mr. Lamons is survived by his daughter, Angelia Hill and her husband, Robert, of Fort Worth; daughter-in-law, Denise Lamons of Hooks; and one sister, Glenn Morrow of Palestine. He is also survived by nine grandchildren and 15 great-grandchildren.He was preceded in death by his wife, Miriam Amanda Lamons; two sons, John Calvin Lamons Jr., and Charles “Randy” Lamons; one brother; and three sisters.
