Vernice H. Tiller, 87, of Abbeville, wife of 68 years to the late William 'Bill' N. Tiller, died peacefully surrounded by her family on Wednesday, June 25, 2014 at her home.

She was born in Muscogee, FL to the late Will and Lucy Linton Hardy.

Mrs. Tiller retired after 12 years with the Abbeville Shirt Plant and was a member of Westside Baptist Church.

In addition to her parents and husband she was preceded in death by a son, William 'Billy' Tiller, Jr.; a grandson, Jay Davis; a brother, Lonnie Hardy and a sister, Annie Mae Holland.

Surviving Mrs. Tiller are her six children; David O. Tiller and his wife Margaret of Rocky Mount, NC, Harry L. Tiller and his wife Nedra of Aiken, SC, Randy Tiller and his wife Shirlyne of Greenwood, SC, Paul Tiller and his wife Linda of Abbeville, Alice M. Blea and her husband Phillip of Blue Springs, Missouri and Pam Driver and her husband Tim of Woodruff, SC; three sisters, Elsie Manning, Helen Allen and her husband Clyde and Margie Kennedy all of Cantonment, FL; seventeen grandchildren, many great and great-great grandchildren.

The family will receive friends from 1:00PM to 2:00PM on Friday, June 27, 2014 at Harris Funeral Home.

Funeral services will begin at 2:30PM on Friday, June 27, 2014 in the funeral home chapel with the Rev. James Long officiating. Burial will follow in Forest Lawn Memory Gardens.

The family is at the home. Memorial contributions in memory of Mrs. Tiller may be sent to Hospice of the Upstate, 1835 Rogers Rd., Anderson, SC 29621 or a charity of one's choice.
