Charles (Chuck) H. Kausche passed away surrounded by family Saturday, Jan. 14, 2012, at St. Joseph Regional Medical Center in Lewiston.

He was born Jan. 28, 1933, to Floyd and Margaret Kausche at the original family homestead in Garfield County. Chuck attended school in Pomeroy. During this time he was active in Future Farmers of America. He graduated from Pomeroy High School.

Chuck married Inez Emerson in 1952 and had three children. He continued the century legacy of farming the family homestead. He operated Kaymere Angus Ranch and would show his award-winning livestock at fairs and exhibitions. His love for this would continue as he provided guidance and support as a 4-H leader and mentor.

In 1981, Chuck married Dorothy Ledgerwood. After he retired from the farming operation, he was always ready to help out his son whenever he could. His help and knowledge were always appreciated. He and Dorothy enjoyed gardening, as well as fishing and relaxing at Williams Lake, Wash., during their retirement years.

Chuck was a member of the First Christian Church, serving as a board member, deacon, elder and assistant treasurer. He also served as president of the Garfield County Fair Board Association. He was a longtime member of the Eagles, Moose and Elks fraternal organizations.

Charles is survived by his wife, Dorothy; children Glenda Cloud and Kent, Randy Kausche and Michele, and Kathy Berg and Ron; grandchildren Ryan Cloud, Shawna Rench and Jesse, and Brandon Berg; great-grandchildren Kylee, Tyler, Katey and Hannah; stepchildren Barbara Donaldson and Dave, Steve Ledgerwood and Holly, Ken Ledgerwood and Debbie, Karen Kastl and Mark, and Molly Dixon and Matt; 12 step-grandchildren; and 11 step-great-grandchildren.

A funeral service will be conducted at 11 a.m. Thursday at the First Christian Church in Pomeroy. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be sent to the First Christian Church, P.O. Box 699, Pomeroy, WA 99347.
