Oscar E. Ellsworth, 70, of Paw Paw ave., Benton Harbor, long-time resident of this community, died at 3 p. m. Thursday at Memorial hospital. He had been ill the past week and entered the hospital yesterday noon.
Mr. Ellsworth had been employed at the Moulds Brass foundry and the Michigan Gas company, and for 10 years prior to his retirement last July he was with the Whirlpool corporation.
Born July 16, 1882, in Ironton,
Ohio, he moved with his parents at
the age of 16 to Oxford, Ind., and
lived there until 1922, at which time he came to Benton Harbor. He
married Miss Nettie Jarvis, Sept.
26, 1905, in Oxford. She survives.
Five children survive. They are Mrs. Merritt Malott and Mrs. Jack Closson, Benton Harbor, Edwin Ellsworth, St. Joseph, John Ellsworth, South Bend, and Mrs. Earl Cloud, Rochester, Ind. Two sons, Ovid and Talmadge, preceded him in death.
Also surviving are three brothers, Harry and Roy, of Oxford, and Ross, of Lafayette, Ind., and three sisters, Mrs. Linña O'Neil, Lawton, Okla., Mrs. Z. J. Dupies, Terre Haute, Ind., and Mrs. Myrtle Voliva, Oxford, Ind. There are 17 grandchildren.
Mr. Ellsworth was a member of the Methodist Peace Temple. The Rev. Stanley Buck of that church will officiate at funeral services Saturday at 2 p. m. at the Florin funeral home. Burial will be in Crystal Springs cemetery.
