ecilia Barry, age 64, passed away on Wednesday, April 9, 2014 in San Antonio, Texas. On Thanksgiving Day in 1949, Cecilia Barry came into the world; the first of five children born to Margaret and John Joe Barry.

She was the valedictorian of the Bishop Byrne High School Class of 1968. Cecilia attended Stephens College and graduated from the University of Texas at Austin. She was a VISTA (Volunteers in Service to America) in Bluff, Utah. She taught third grade at Collins Garden Elementary School in San Antonio, Texas for almost 30 years.

She was preceded in death by her brothers John and Bill Barry. She is survived by her sisters Peg and Clare Barry of Austin, Texas; sister-in-law, Mary Snyder Barry of Fairfax, Virginia; nephews, Joe Brockman of Austin, Patrick and Bob Barry of Fairfax; nieces, Regina Erwin and her husband, Chad, Emily Litteral and Gabby Barry-Conley; great-niece, Alexandria Erwin; great-nephews, Christopher Erwin and Clayton and Bradley Litteral, all of Austin; our beloved uncle, David Redmond Barry. She is also survived by many loving cousins, and many, many dear friends.

The family will receive friends from 5:00 to 7:00 p.m., Thursday, April 17, 2014, at Porter Loring Mortuary North in San Antonio.

A memorial service will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Friday, April 25, 2014 at St. Austin Catholic Church in Austin.
