Howard K. "HUD" Hicks, 71, formerly of Sagamore, died Tuesday, Feb. 27, 1990, in the Indiana Hospital. The son of Wilbur and Elsie Bush Hicks, he was born March 17, 1918, in Derry. Having resided in Sagamore most of his life, before moving to Beyer 1 1/2 years ago. Mr. Hicks was a member of UMWA Local 1412.
He was a coal miner for more than 40 years with the R & P Coal Co. at the Sagamore Cadogan, Lucerne and Helen mines, until his retirement in 1975.
Surviving are two sisters, Mrs Edward (Ethel) Hartzell and Mrs. Bernard (Louella) Rairie, both of Sagamore; several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, two sistersn and two brothers, Verna McKnew, Mary Jones, Wilbur and Floyd Hicks.
Services will be held Friday in the Bowser-Minich Funeral Home, Plumbille. Interment will be made in the Rural Valley Cemetery.
