He was a veteran serving in the Air Force and was retired from Merck & Company and was of the Baptist faith. He was preceded in death by his parents, James Forrest Caldwell and Annie Pryor Gunn Caldwell and a son, Jerry B. Caldwell, Jr.
Survivors include a son, Christopher C. Caldwell, Albany, GA, a daughter and her husband, Jennifer Ann Vonier (Hansel), Cordele, GA, the mother of his children, Margaret Caldwell and six grandchildren.
