Rosa America Clausel was born to Richard Harrison Clausel and Lou Ellen Baxter Clausel of the Olive Hill Community in Hardin County, TN, in 1891. Homeplace was frequently referred to as "Happy hollow." It's location
was at the Head or beginning of Whitlow Branch in Hardin County, TN.
Rosa was 2nd of six children in the family: Cordelia (Gaston Davis); Rosa (Nev Hendon); Danny (Lounettie); Lydia (Walter Gant) & (Delaney); Charlie (Annie Mae Duckworth); and Richard (Lily Mae McMullen). Rosa was 1st married to Nev Hendon 1883-1918 of the Olive Hill Community in Hardin County, TN. Their oldest child, Clemon Elmer, born 1908; Lera Jane 1910; Flossie 1912; Lorine 1915 and Elvis 1918. Their children ranged in age from oldest at ten years old to youngest only two months old in November 1918, when their Father, Nev Hendon died in the Worldwide Spanish Flu epidemic of that year. That left Rosa Clausel Hendon widowed at age 27 with the five Hendon children. Fast forward four years to 1923 and an eligible young man, James "Jim" Davison, of the Swift Community in Hardin County, TN, became 2nd husband of Rosa Clausel Hendon. Their children were Bernis, Dewey, Luther, and Hollis.
Rosa Davison, then, a young Mother of nine, suffered a bout with pneumonia and died March 5, 1930. Rosa'a family did all they could support each other-- older girls helped with the younger children at home
while Jim did what he could with the older boys in farming to keep the family together. As the Hendon children married and moved out of the household, Jim and the Davison children move to Osceola, Ar. in the 1930's. Rosa died too young to enjoy her many grandchildren and great grandchildren and the family just keeps expanding. Rosa Davison is
buried in Russell Chapel Cemetery, Hardin County, TN, in the Cerro Gordo Community. Want some of her offspring, who read this, take the time to visit her grave and reflect on some of the joys and pleasures
she experienced in knowing that she actually passed the breath of life on to You!
