Mr. Kirkpatrick was born in Fellows on Nov. 15, 1913 and he passed away in Mercy Hospital in Bakersfield on June 8, 1999. He was involved in business with his brother, the late Lee Kirkpatrick, for over 50 years. They owned and operated Kirkpatrick Brothers Stationery Store. Phillip was very active in the community having served on the Taft City Council and serving Taft as Mayor. He played a leading role in preserving the wooden oil derrick at the West Side Oil Museum. He was a longtime member of the Taft Kiwanis Club. Mr. Kirkpatrick loved to golf and travel but most of all he loved his family and will greatly missed by them. He is now in heaven with his beloved wife Gretchen, who passed away in October of 1998. His survivors include his loving daughters Sharon Spear and Barbara Riley; his grandchildren; his great grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews.
