James A. Snyder (1865-1937) was the son of Abraham Abram L Snyder (1828-1913) and Abraham's first wife Susan Catherine Johnson both of Pennsylvania who migrated to Bradley County, Tennessee in the mid-1860s. Abraham and Susan had eight children. Their three youngest children were born in Cleveland, Bradley County, Tennessee. Sons James A. Snyder (1865-1937), David B. Snyder (1869-1944) and Thomas R. (1876-1949) all migrated to the state of Washington prior to 1900. Between 1907-1910 sister Alice Alvilda Snyder Pair (1873-1939) joined her three brothers in Washington. Thomas, James and Alice remained in Washington; brother David B. Snyder returned to Bradley County, Tennessee. After Abraham's first wife Susan Catherine Johnson (Est 1837-1876/77) passed, he married Joanna Rebecca Kile/Kyle 24 Mar 1878 in Bradley County, Tennessee and they had six children. Their youngest was my aunt's mother. #49519234

"WALLA WALLA, April 8. - James A. Snyder, 71, died this morning at his home. A native of Pennsylvania, he lived here many years. He was a member of Grace Methodist Episcopal church. Surviving are his widow, Mrs. Ava Snyder, Walla Walla; two daughters, Mrs. Irene Owens and Mrs. Clarence Steinbeck, Walla Walla, and two sons, E. A. Snyder, Walla Walla, and I. C. Snyder, Salt Lake City."
