The daughter of the late Clarence and Bernice Kirkland was born in Jackson County, but lived in Lake City most of her life.
A graduate of Columbia High, she worked as a pharmacy technician before retiring to care for family members throughout the remainder of her life.
She was preceded in death by her first husband, Homer L. Byrd, who was killed during WWII, her second husband of over 55 years, Douglas Littlefield, and her brother Ray Kirkland.
She is survived by her daughter, Julie Byrd Gafford (Frank), two grandchildren, Wendy Bishop Vola (Bill) of Baytown , TX, and David Bishop of Lake City; two great-grandchildren, Julianna Turi, Baytown TX, and Dawson Bishop of Lake City. Also surviving is her brother Clarence Kirkland (Nancy of Gainesville.
She was a member of White Springs United Methodist Church. She was also a member and past Registrar of Edward Rutledge Chapter of the Daughters of the American Revolution, member of Magna Charta Dames, past member of United Daughters of the Confederacy, Colonial Dames XVII Century, Lake City Garden Club, and Lake City Women's Club.
Funeral services will be conducted at White Springs United Methodist Church, US Hwy 41, Thursday, June 19, at 2:00 PM with Pastor Brian Leonardson officiating. Interment will follow in Memorial Cemetery. The family will receive friends in the fellowship hall one hour prior to the service. In lieu of flowers, donations to Haven Hospice or White Springs United Methodist Church will be appreciated. Arrangements are under the direction of Gateway-Forest Lawn Funeral Home
