Mrs. Phebe Emmaline Speer Clampitt died at 5:00 p.m. Wednesday, March 19, 1952 at the home of her daughter Mrs. Carrie Kern, Route 6, Bedford, Indiana. She had been bed-fast for 23 months.

The 82-year-old Lawrence County native was born October 3, 1869 to Robert K and Phoebe Fountain Speer. She was married to William Curtis Clampitt on October 5, 1894 and her husband preceded her in death on June 30, 1932.

A member of Pinhook Christian Church, Pinhook, Lawrence County, Indiana. She is survived by two daughters, Mrs. Carrie A. Clampitt Kern (Harry), Bedford, Indiana and Mrs. Gretel May Clampitt Richards (Wesley), Madison, Indiana; one son,Charlie O. Clampitt (Blanche), Scottsburg, Indiana; 13 grand children; nine great grandchildren; several nieces and nephews One son Marion Robert "Ethal" Clampitt preceded her in death on June 4, 1929.

Services will be held at 2:30 p.m. Sunday at the Pinhook Christian Church with Reverend Charles Kern officiating. Interment ill be in the Pinhook Cemetery, Pinhook, Lawrence County, Indiana.

Friends may call at the Day & Carter Mortuary after noon on Friday.
