John F Murphy, farmer; he was born in Stark Co, Nov 5, 1818; came to Richland Co in 1825.

Was married, April 8, 1844, to Miss Keith; they had two children — Henry K, born March 2, 1845, and John A, July 7, 1850; after the mother's death, he was married the second time to Anna Cline, in 1857; they have the following children: Mary Ellen, born in August, 1857; Charles E, May 17, 1859; Albert R, in March, 1861; Truman, in October, 1867; Lillie May, Nov 13, 1871.

John F Murphy, one of Richland's highly respected octogenarians, passed away at his late home two and one-half miles north of the city on the Bowman street road, at 8:40 Friday evening. Mr Murphy had been in poor health some time and his death was due to a complication of diseases, caused by advanced age.

Mr Murphy was 85 years, 5 months, and 3 days old and was born in Brookfield, Stark county. In 1825 he came to this county and located on the farm where he died, having lived there all the years during the interval. The deceased served as county commissioner and was township trustee several terms. He was widely known and had a host of friends in this city and vicinity.

He leaves a wife and the following children: Mrs John Abbott of east of the city; Mrs E M Terman, of the home place, Henry and John, Albert Murphy, member of the local board of public service and Capt Truman O Murphy, stationed at Vancouver Barracks, Washington, DC. All except Capt Truman Murphy will be able to attend the funeral
