Ella "Nell" Onstott was the daughter of Isaac and Margaret Jane (Cantonwine) Onstott and the grand-daughter of Charles and Mary Magdalena (Scholl) Cantonwine.

Charles, the patriarch of the Cantonwine family, immigrated to America from Prussia in 1806, arriving in Philadelphia, Penn., aboard the ship Orlando. The ship's passenger list shows "Chr. Kuntenwine, single man." The name Kuntenwine later evolved to Cantonwine, and Charles appears to be the only surnamed Kuntenwine/Cantonwine to immigrate to America. Eight or so years after his arrival in Philadelphia, in about 1814, Charles married Mary Magdalena Scholl, daughter of Charles Jacob & Margaret (Fuhr) Scholl, in Bedford county, Pennsylvania.

Ella married Marion S. Rowe in about 1882. They had one son, Clyde, born about 1884. Ella died in the following year. Marion later married Alma Ellen ___________, and they had three children, Francis, Orville, and Alma R. Marion.
