On Jan 5th at the home of her daughter, Mrs James McLaughlin, Round Hill, Sarah, widow of the late Abram Banks, died of pneumonia. Mrs Banks was the daughter of Reverend Israel Rice of Bear River. She had reached the ripe age of 86 years, and although her general health has always been good, she sustained a fall about 20 years ago, which fractured her hip and left her almost a cripple. For a number of years she was able to get about on crutches and attend to her household duties; these, however, finally proved too arduous and 13 years ago she came to live with her daughter. The funeral was by Reverend RF Allen of Annapolis Royal, assisted by Reverend Gilbert Ruggles of Bear River. Interment was at Bear River. She leaves 4 sons and 2 daughters; 24 grandchildren and 11 great grandchildren.
