Esther Mae (Sis) Mitchell, 94, died Tuesday June 3 at 4:20pm at Inland Valley Medical Center in Wildomar, Ca. attended by her son, Bernie and daughter in-law, Therese.
Esther was born February 10, 1920, in Washburn, Ill. To Clyde and Govilla (Damerell) Jenkins. She met the love of her life, Bernard (Bud) Mitchell on the bus going to work at Caterpillar in Peoria. They were married on August 25, 1947 in Oregon, Ill. He preceded her in death on Nov.18, 1988.
Surviving her are one son, Bernie, daughter in-law, Therese, grandson, Michael, granddaughter, Erin and many nieces and nephews.
Esther was also preceded in death by her parents and all her siblings, brothers: Ora, Floyd, Harold and Ray Jenkins, and sister Mary Myers.
She was a graduate of Washburn High School and Brown's Business College in Peoria.
She worked at Caterpillar in Personnel and Training in Peoria and Aurora, Ill.

Esther enjoyed travel, making afghans, doing needle point, walking, having a glass of white wine and visiting with friends and family. She was an avid reader and in later life she listened to many books on tape. In 2004 she moved from Lacon, Ill to Knoxville, TN to live with her son and his family. In 2013 she moved with them to Lake Elsinore, Ca.
She was a member of Immaculate Conception Church in Lacon, Ill and funeral Mass will be celebrated there on Friday June 20, 2014 at 10 am. Father Tom Mizeur will be the celebrant.
Burial will be in Linn-Mount Vernon Cemetery, Washburn, Ill. Arrangements are being handled by Clavert & Johnson Memorial Home, Washburn.
In lieu of flower, memorials may be made to the American Cancer Society.
