Born August 9, 1920, in Salt Lake City, Utah, Gerald was a veteran of World War II, United States Marine Corps, serving on the island of Saipan and Tinian; a member of 458 Platoon 2nd Marine Corps Division. Gerald was a sheet metal aircraft mechanic for Lockheed Martin in California, then Hill Air Force Base in Layton, Utah. Later he was employed by Ron Garlic Helicopters in Hamilton, Montana. He was also an accomplished long-haul truck driver and a motorcycle enthusiast with a love for tinkering on all things mechanical. Beloved father, grandfather and friend, Gerald Wardle O'Neil passed away peacefully on Monday evening, February 3, 2014, surrounded by his family. He was 93 years old.
Survived By: His son, Bill O'Neil (Laureen); daughter, Lori Baker (Ron); and daughter, Mary Baker; grandchildren: Nichole, BreeAnn, Ashley, Kimberly, Shelbi, Levi and Dalton; great-grandchildren: Austin and Rya; and numerous nieces and nephews.
Services: Willow Court Community Room at 150 Skeels Avenue in Hamilton, Montana.
