Uncle Pete was my grandmother, Laura's, brother and the eldest of eight siblings born to my great grandparents, Moses and Mary Mays. Not much is known about Uncle Pete other than the family story that he once hand-carried a stove from Coalport to Altoona, Pa. It is stated in various records that he was married, however, the name of his wife is not mentioned. It is my understanding that he was somewhat of a loner and preferred to live a hermit-like existence. My grandmother, Laura, provided the information recorded on his death certificate.

It appears that my widowed great grandmother, Mary, may have lived with him for a short period of time, as her name appears on the 1910 census as being part of his household.
