Lee Dan was born ca. 1865 and died abt 1892. He was the son of Ole Lee Nelson and Alsey (Alsia) Ann Thompson (Choctaw-Chickasaw), daughter of Archibald and Anna Strong Thompson.

He married Willie Anne Virginia Fannin (Choctaw-Chickasaw-Cherokee) abt 1886, the daughter of William Moore Fannin (Choctaw) and Sarah Ann (Horton) Fannin (Choctaw-Chickasaw-Cherokee) and had two children from this union:
(1) Martin Erastus "Rack" Nelson, b. 9.29.1887 in Troup, Texas, d. 10.12.1975 in Sacramento, California; married Lou Ella Greenwood
(2) Dora Malsura Nelson, b. 1.13.1891 in Troup, Texas, d. 6.20.1975 Lovington, New Mexico; married Porter Alvin Speck and Unknown Allen
