Her family moved from the Mount Tabor Indian Community in Rusk County, Texas to the Chickasaw Nation, IT in 1894. One son, William was born in Pickens County, Chickasaw Nation, near the town of Marlow, where most of the Thompson and related Texas Choctaw families settled. Due to problems with her next pregnancy (Mamie) the family moved back to Texas.
Her husband applied for citizenship in the Choctaw Nation, application #1052, under the name R.E.L. Thompson, but was rejected due to their leaving IT for Texas. He was initially listed as Robert Thompson on the Mississippi Choctaw list (as were all Texas Choctaws and Jena Choctaws from Louisiana), but since he and his relatives were not from Mississippi but rather Texas, they were removed. All the Thompson's that were eventually enrolled as Citizens by Blood in the Choctaw Nation, did so through the William C. Thompson et al vs Choctaw Nation case.
