Doctor Alexander Butler Nixon, Surgeon of the Board of Enrollment, Middle District of California, was the Examining Surgeon of Recruit Ames. He was reported "casualty at Post with mail from Smoke Creek Station" at Fort McGarry, Nevada, January 31; promoted Corporal May 1, 1866; Corporal Ames mustered-out, with his Company, at Camp Union, Sacramento, California, May 29, 1866.
Everett Ames, age 31 years and a Sheep Herder, was enumerated June 21, 1880, at Lee, Sacramento County, California.
