Marshall Lee "Red" Byford, 85, passed away peacefully Sunday, February 12, 2012, at his home. Visitation will be from 6 to 8 p.m., Monday, February 13, 2012, at Grace Gardens Funeral Home. Funeral services will be at 11 a.m., Tuesday, February 14, 2012, at Grace Gardens Funeral Home Chapel. Interment will follow in Harris Creek Cemetery.

Lee was born in McGregor, Texas, to the late Gaston and Odessa (Rhoads) Byford. He graduated from McGregor High School in 1942. He joined the U.S. Army Air Corps serving during World War II as a tail gunner on B-24. After returning to Waco he married Barbara Foster. He worked at General Tire, retiring after 40 years.

Survivors include his wife of 62 years, Barbara; daughters, Diane Russell, and Janie Smith and her husband, Bill; son Edwin Byford and his wife, Carol; six grandchildren;
sister, Allene Gatlin; and many other family members and friends.
