Blanche Charlotte Pledger November 4, 1923 - September 11, 2012 Blanche C. Pledger of McGregor passed away Tuesday, September 11, 2012. Services will be 10:00 a.m., Friday, September 14, at Wilkirson-Hatch-Bailey Chapel. Burial will follow at Harris Creek Cemetery. Visitation will be 6:00-8:00 p.m., Thursday, September 13, at Wilkirson-Hatch-Bailey Garden Room. Blanche was born November 4, 1923, to Cody and Mabel Byford on a farm near McGregor, where she was raised and educated. She married Boyd Pledger on July 26, 1941, and they moved to the South Bosque Community in 1960. She worked from 1961 to 1981 in various positions at Lake Air Shopping Mall. The last eight years she worked as promotional manager for the Lake Air Merchants Association. Some of her jobs included decorating the mall at Christmas and other seasons. After retiring, she and her husband decorated their home; the decorations drew sightseers from all over Central Texas. She was active in Harris Creek Baptist Church and the Harris Creek Cemetery Association. She was preceded in death by her husband, Boyd; infant twin daughters; and her grandson, Chris Pledger.
