PIONEER DIES AFTER ILLNESS OVER A YEAR
Mrs. John Engelbrecht, 72, Is to Be Buried on Monday from Lutheran Church
Mrs. John Engelbrecht, 1812 East St., Two Rivers, pioneer resident of Manitowoc County, died this morning at the Two Rivers hospital, where she had been a patient since Thursday. Death followed an illness of over a year. Funeral services will be held Monday afternoon at 2 o’clock from the St. John’s Lutheran Church, the Rev. W.G. Haase officiating. The body will remain at the Klein and Stangel funeral parlors until the time of the funeral.
Mrs. Engelbrecht, nee Dorothy Karkow, was born in Germany in 1862. She came to this county at the age of 6 with her parents. They settled in the town of Mishicot. She was married to John Engelbrecht 42 years ago and the couple settled in the Town of Two Creeks. About twelve years ago they moved to Two Rivers where they lived since.
The deceased is survived by her husband; five daughters, Mrs. Frank Havlinek and Mrs. Clarence Miller of Two Rivers, Mrs. Leroy Kohl of Manitowoc, Mrs. Marie Ihlenfeldt of Kewaunee and Mrs. ?? of Two Creeks; two sons, Henry of Two Rivers and William of Two Creeks; a sister, Mrs. Frank Shebesta of Two Rivers; two brothers, Albert Karkow of Racine and Lawrence Karkow of Manitowoc and 24 grandchildren.
