Son of Mikel (Michael) Olson (b. 1834) d. 12 Sep 1885 and Kari Tandlokken b. (14 Nov 1846)

Tobias was born in Gulbrandsdalen, Norway

In 1872 Mikel and Kari left Norway with 8 of their children: settling in Monroe County for 5 years until coming to Unity Township in 1877, where Mikel bought 80 acres in Section and remained there until his death on 12 Sept 1885.

Mother, Kari resides with son Tobias. He retained ownership of that farm and in 1897, Tobias purchased an additional 160 acres in NE Section 22. He also owns many others farms and purchased a hardware store and implement store in Strum. In 1898 he built a large grain elevator in Strum and another in Eleva, both of which he operates as of this date (1917).

In 1900 Tobias married Mary Romundstad, daughter of Ole O. residing in Eau Claire County (nearby).

They had eight children:

1) Milton, died at 7 mos of age
2) Myrtle, died 1921
3) Edwin, died 1995
4) Ruth Irene (David) Westlund of San Diego, later Minneapolis
