George Arthur Jamison, one of Bellwood’s most prominent citizens, outstanding as a civic and religious leader, died of pneumonia last night at 6:30 o’clock at his residence, 606 Orchard street, Bellwood, after two weeks’ illness.

Mr. Jamison was a member of the official board of the Bellwood Methodist Episcopal church, president of the Belwood Furniture company, treasurer of the Bellwood borough school board, president of the Logantis Hunting club, a director of the Bellwood Y.M.C.A., and a director of the people’s General Merchandising company, Bellwood.

He was born October 13, 1873 at Spruce Creek valley, a son of John and Katharine Jamison, and was married October 7, 1895, in Petersburg, to Martha J. Miller. The couple had resided in Bellwood the past 33 years.

Surviving are his wife and the following brothers and sisters, Newton Jamison, Cochranville, Pa.; Isaac M. Jamison, Bellwood; Mrs. Lilly M. Stevens, Spruce Creek; Miss Elida M. Jamison, Saltillo, Pa.; Mrs. Viola Greenland, Oaks, Pa.; two half-sisters, Miss Sadie C. Jamison, Bellwood, and Mrs. Mila Miller, Seven Stars, Pa.

Funeral service will be held at the home Monday afternoon at 2:30 o’clock in charge of his pastor, the Rev. J.M. Brennan assisted by the Rev. J.F. Anderson. Burial will be in Logan Valley cemetery.
