Raymond was the son of John H. and Sarah McFarland Brown and the husband of Mildred Galloway Brown. A graduate of Louisiana College in Lafayette, La., he initially taught school but later worked for and retired from the Texaco Refinery in Port Arthur, TX. He was a member of the Methodist Church. Raymond was survived by his wife Mildred, by his daughters Mary Grace and Mildred Carolyn, and by several grandchildren.
