Madeline attended Gallup schools. Madeline was employed with the McKinley County Welfare Office (MCWO) in Gallup and retired as director. She worked with Kathryn Jones at the MCWO in Gallup.
Madeline was a member of the Business and Professional Women's Association and the Order of the Eastern Star. She enjoyed golf, baseball, tennis, and being with family and friends.
On August 3, 1938, Madeline married first husband, Harold L. Poe, a railroad freight conductor, in St. Johns, AZ. He died in 1960. She married second husband, Raymond R. Phillips, in the late 1960s, and resided for over 30 years with him in Kirtland, NM.
Survivors include son Harold J. Poe (Barbara), daughter Elizabeth, three grandchildren Carrie, Stacy, and Robert, and four great-grandchildren. She is also survived by step-daughter Karol Phillips Young (1949 - 2021) of Kirtland, NM, two step-sons Dennis Phillips of Tyler, TX, and Rev. Kevin Phillips of Clayton, NM, and their families.
Madeline was preceded in death by her parents, both husbands, and all of her siblings.

Husband Raymond (military service November 4, 1942 - September 12, 1945), was a B52 tail gunner during WWII and possibly flew in 26 missions. His rank was staff sergeant or sergeant.
