Mary Ellen graduated with the Lebanon High School class of 1951. She received her degree from the Reading School of Nursing in 1954. She practiced as a registered nurse in Reading and Lebanon. Later, she volunteered as a life member of the Good Samaritan Hospital Auxiliary.
Mary was a member of Tabor United Church of Christ where she served as a deacon and taught Sunday school for 20 years.
She and her husband were third cousins once removed through the Bamberger/Bomberger family (although they were unaware of any relationship). He later remarried.
