Jodie Booker, Sr., 81, of Steele, died Tuesday, July 20, 2010, in Blytheville, Ark.
Born Aug. 3, 1928 in Arkadelphia, Ark., he is the son of the late Clayborn Booker and Katie Anderson. He was also preceded in death by his step-father, Otis Duncan; and one brother, Tom Duncan; and one sister, Helen Shannon.
He was a farmer and a member of the St. Paul Missionary Baptist Church in Steele.
Jodie was united in marriage to Julie Hurst. He later married Tinnie Bell on Oct. 9, 1949.
Mr. Booker leaves his children: Rev. Lee Ventis Moore Sr. (Gracie) of Ohio, Carolyn Hampton (Rev. McArthur) and Joyce Daniels (Richard) of Blytheville, Jodie Booker (Beverly) of New Jersey, Rita Davis of Arizona, Bobby Booker of Gosnell, Ark., and Randy Booker of Illinois; Two adopted children: Thelma Booker of Little Rock, Ark., and Jerome Booker of Tennessee; Four brothers: James Duncan of California, John Booker and James Booker of Arkansas, and Patrick Booker of Texas; Six sisters: Mary Langan, Margaret Snell, Fairy Duncan, Maudell Sands and Dorothy Duncan-Davis, all of Chicago and Bobby Bennett of Arkadelphia; Thirty-four grandchildren, seventy great-grandchildren; and A host of nieces, nephews and other relatives and friends.
Funeral services for Mr. Booker were held at 3 p.m., Saturday, July 24, at the Mt. Moriah Missionary Baptist Church in Blytheville with Rev. McArthur Hampton officiating.
Burial was at the Morning Star Cemetery in Steele with Powell Funeral Home of Steele in charge of services.
Pallbearers were Bryan Daniels, Rev. Lakeith Hampton, Jr., Kevin Burton, Antonio Booker, LeeVantis Booker Jr., Malcolm Moore, Jimmy Moore and Tracey Moore.
Honorary pallbearers were Jodie Booker Jr., Randy Booker, Bobby Booker, Jerome Booker, Rev. M. Hampton, Richard Daniels and LeeVantis Booker Sr.
