Died in Churchville, N. Y., Oct. 15, 1885, Mrs. Sarah S. Butterfield Craig, wife of Dr. James W. Craig. Mrs. Craig was born in Caledonia, Livingston county, September, 20, 1828. She was the daughter of John Butterfield, one of the oldest merchants in Caledonia. She attended school in Le Roy, becoming afterwards a successful teacher for a number of years in Livingston and Monroe counties. She was married to Dr. W. Craig in 1851, soon after his settlement in Churchville, as a practitioner of medicine. Four daughters survive; Mrs. Jennie Jones, wife of Rev. J. R. Jones, in Floyd, Iowa, Mrs. Dr. Buckley, now traveling in Europe, Misses Anna and Dr. Marion Craig of Churchville. She became a member of the Congregational church in Churchville, about twenty-five years ago, and during this time had lived a devout christian life, ever exemplifying the sincerity of her convictions. in the home circle, in social life and to the world. She has been a patient sufferer from illness for the last two years and during the last few months her sufferings while very severe, have been borne with true christian fortitude and resignation. In this afflictive dispensation, the husband sustains the Ioss of an affectionate wife, the daughters a kindly and loving mother, and the community in which she lived a sincere christian lady. The funeral services will be held at the residence 10 o'clock a. m. Saturday 17th Inst.
