Lifelong local resident Randall K. Scott, 61, of Kelso passed away May 28, 2014, due to pancreatic cancer.
He was born April 12, 1953, in Longview, to Ben C. and Evelyn R. (Fossum) Scott. He graduated from Mark Morris High School in 1971 and attended Lower Columbia College.
Randy worked for mills and canneries in his youth. He took a carpenter’s apprenticeship and longshored as a white card. Randy loved cars, particularly foreign and sports cars. He also loved motorcycles, riding his bike, rock and roll, movies, his collection of stereo equipment and visiting friends. Randy was known for his intelligence, political discussions and making people laugh.
He is survived by a sister and brother-in-law, Lucinda and Ron Burchatz of Kelso; a half-sister, Sandra Nelson, in Oregon; a sister-in-law, Pat Scott of Seattle; three nephews, Kevin Burchatz (Allison) of Tacoma, and Linn Scott (Allison) and Morgan Scott (Shannon), both in the Seattle area; a niece, Carrie Pedersen of Kelso; three great-nephews, Andrew Pedersen and Colby Pedersen, both of Kelso and Liam Burchatz of Tacoma; a great-niece, Evelyn A. Burchatz of Tacoma; and his cousins.
Randy was preceded in death by his parents; a brother, Bradford Scott; a sister-in-law, Mary Hafner Scott; and two uncles and their spouses, Linn and Ethyl Scott, and Boyd and Mabel Fossum.
A gathering in Randy’s memory is planned for 5 p.m. Monday on the patio at Tim’s Bar & Grill, 215 Allen Street, Kelso. Cremation will take place and Randy’s ashes will be buried with his parents at Cowlitz View Memorial Gardens.
