E. Wayne Martin, age 82 of Seguin, passed away on June 2, 2014. A memorial visitation will be held on Friday, June 27, 2014 at Tres Hewell Mortuary from 5 to 7 p.m. A memorial service celebrating Wayne's life will be held on Saturday, June 28, 2014 at 10:30 a.m. at First United Methodist Church with Rev. Ron Welborn, Rev. Bill Knobles and Rev. Keith Wyatt officiating. A reception will follow in the Christian Life Center. Private ennichment for the family will be held later at the Columbarium in Knolle Chapel of First United Methodist Church. One of 7 siblings, Wayne was born on August 11, 1931 in Alanreed Texas to Claude and Emma (Watts) Martin. He grew up and finished high school in Shamrock, Texas. He graduated from Texas Christian University where he played football for his beloved Horned Frogs. After serving in the Army, Wayne spent many years working in education as a coach, principal, and in educational publishing. He was a devoted family man and leaves behind his loving wife of 59 years, Nell; two devoted daughters, Marla Rea and Marcia Boone, along with their spouses Darrel Rea and Mark Boone as well as four grandchildren who treasured their Pawpaw: Ben Boone, Aaron Rea, Adam Rea, and Amy Boone Shepherd and her husband, Toler. Other cherished family members include: sister, Lorene Bratcher; sister-in-law, Mildred Tankersley and numerous nieces and nephews. Wayne was active in the First United Methodist Church in Seguin. He leaves behind many friends who enjoyed his sense of humor and easy going nature. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to First United Methodist Church, 710 N. Austin St., Seguin, Texas, 78155, 830-549-5912.
