Final rites for Claude L. Martin, 708 South Wall, were held Wednesday, December 19, 1973 at 10:00 a.m. in the Missionary Baptist Church of Shamrock. Rev. Bill Rushing, pastor of Samnorwood's First Baptist Church conducted the services.
Burial was in Shamrock Cemetery under the direction of Clay Funeral Home.Pallbearers were Walter Pendleton, R.B. Uselton, Vernon Tarbet, Bryan Close, Bennie Bennett, Jim Tallant and Carl Isaacs.Mr. Martin died at 2:00 p.m. Sunday, December 16, in Shamrock General Hospital, where he had been a patient since the fifth of November.Born June 12, 1890, near Grandview, Johnson County, he came to Shamrock from McLean in 1935. He had driven a gasoline truck for approximately 20 years for Phillips Gas Company.Claude L. Martin and Miss Emma Lee Watts were married September 4, 1912 in Childress.He was a member of the Missionary Baptist Church.Survivors include his wife of the home, four sons: Virgil of Fort Worth; Carl of Jal, New Mexico, Rev. W.T. of Phoenix, Arizona; Wayne of Seguine; three daughters: Mrs. Pauline Smith of Amarillo, Mrs. Lorene Bratcher of Ft. Collins, Colorado, Mrs. Edith Buford of Scottsboro, Alabama; seventeen grandchildren and fifteen great grandchildren.Shamrock Texan December 20, 1973.
