Laura Lane was born in Rosebud, Texas, to the late Ernest and Jessie King. She graduated from Rosebud High School. Laura attended Southwestern University in Georgetown and was a member of Phi Mu sorority. In 1944, she married Luther Parks.
Following his discharge from the service, Laura and Luther returned to Rosebud and remained there. Laura's interests and life were always more in others than in herself, both in caring for her family and in her work and service. She worked in several places in Rosebud over the years, including the Rosebud News, the hospital, and the schools. Laura was active in the First Baptist Church and in the Wednesday Study Club. She and Luther enjoyed many interests together, particularly in retirement.
Survivors include daughters, Jo-Carol Fabianke, of San Antonio, and Kathy Clayton, of Austin; grandchildren, Jason Fabianke and Leigh Ann Fabianke, both of San Antonio; five great-grandchildren; other relatives and many friends.
