Samuel Tschetter, 78,died at his Ketchikan home on Feb. 15. He was born on Sept. 24 1913, in Hutchinson County, S.D. He married Norma Jean Tippery Lewis in 1950 and farmed until moving to Ketchikan in 1965.

He worked as a night watchman for E.C. Phillips and later as a janitor for Ketchikan Gateway Borough School District. He retired in 1985.

He was a member of Rebekah and Oddfellow Lodge, and of the Moose Lodge. He was-enrolled in the Moose Lodge in August 1969. He had the offices of prelate, junior governor, and Governor (two terms). He served seven years on the Ritual Team. He also served as Alaska Moose Association President from 1984 to 1985, and received his Pilgrim Degree in 1985.

He is survived by his sons Roger Tschetter, of Boulder City, NV, Lowell Tschetter, Anchorage, daughters Janet Ehrmann, Federal Way WA, Patricia Breese, Ketchikan AK, and Marcia Tschetter of Anchorage AK. He also is survived grandchildren. Rod Schneider, Ketchikan AK; Rita Campbell, Sumner, WA; Julie Gunsauley and Gene Ehrmann, both of Federal Way; Todd Andera and Gina Tschetter, Boulder City; and Justin and Alisa Breese, Ketchikan; and great-grandchildren, Brannon Flickinger, Nicole Campbell, Austin Gunsauley, and Paul, Pamela and Patricia Zamora.

Tschetter was cremated and his ashes will be interred in Salem Mennonite Brethren Cemetery near Freeman, S.D. Pallbearers will be Darrel Monta, Rick Kappus, Roger Cole, Bill Cook, Rick Parsley, Dave Bosell, and Dick Zenge. Honorary pallbearers are Harold Gilmore,' Arnold Ludwigsen, Dale Kamm and Bill Singer. A memorial service will be scheduled later. The family requests that memorial donations be made to Hospice of Ketchikan or Rendezvous.
