Cameron Jackson, 81, of Herman, died Monday, May 26, 2014, at the Golden Living Center in Tekamah.
Services were Thursday, May 29, at the Herman Community Church in Herman, Nebraska. Interment was in the Craig Cemetery.
Cameron Jackson was born June 17, 1932, in Omaha, to Henry and Ruth (Cameron) Jackson.
He was raised in Herman, Nebraska, and attended Herman High School, graduating with the class of 1949.
After graduation, he attended Wayne State College and then joined the U.S. Army on Jan. 22, 1953. he served his country honorably and was discharged in 1955.
On July 4, 1953, he was united in marriage to Mary Jane Freeman in Herman.
The couple made their home in rural Herman where they farmed. Over the years he was a very active businessman in the Herman community.
Mr. Jackson was a member of the Herman American Legion, the Herman Masonic Lodge, Order of the Eastern Star, served as a Boy Scoutmaster for more than 30 years, was a member of the Herman Booster Club, served on the Tekamah-Herman School Board and was very active in the Herman Community Church.
He is survived by his children: son Kenneth (Shelly) Jackson of Nebraska City and daughter Carma Jackson; granddaughter Julia Jackson of Herman; sister Marian Madsen of Blair; a niece, nephews, cousins and friends.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Mary Jane Jackson.
Memorials may be directed to the Herman Community Church or the Herman Fire and Rescue Squad.
Campbell-Aman Funeral Home in Blair was in charge of arrangements.
