John C. Doan, arrested here Monday by Detectives Ryan, Desenfants and Brown on telegraphic advices from Los Angeles, has confessed to stealing $51 from the cash register of an oil station where he was employed. He will be sent to Los Angeles for trial.

Doan, 22 years of age, yesterday was arrested at Eighth and K Streets, and is being held for the Los Angeles Police on a charge of embezzling $51 from the till of a cash register in a standard oil station in the Southern city where he worked. According to the detectives who made the arrest, Doan has confessed to the crime.

JOHN C. DOAN, EX-BURLEIGH MAN, DIES IN VIRGINIA

John C. Doan, 52, former Burleigh County resident, died in a Richmond, Va., hospital Tuesday. Mr. Doan had gone to Richmond to visit friends shortly before Christmas. He became ill and was hospitalized there in January.

A native of Burleigh County, Mr. Doan grew up and attended schools near McKenzie. He moved to Sacramento, Calif., in 1917, with his parents. A veteran of World War I, he operated a grocery store in Sacramento for 14 years after receiving his discharge.

Since that time, he has farmed with his brother, Jewell Doan, in McKenzie during the summer months and spent his winters in California. He attended the Presbyterian Church.

Mr. Doan leaves his widow, one sister, Mrs. Les Fry, Sacramento, and one brother, George, also of Sacramento,

The body will arrive in Bismarck Friday and will be taken to the Boelter Funeral Home. Funeral arrangements have not been completed.

JOHN C. DOAN RITES TO BE HELD MONDAY

Funeral services for John C. Doan, 52, former Burleigh County resident, will be held at 2 p.m. Monday in the chapel of the Boelter Funeral Home.

Dr. Joseph Bachman will officiate and burial will be made at Fairview Cemetery. Pallbearers will be Earl Ode and Richard Miller, both of Bismarck, and William McDonald, Ray Baeth, Don Dralle and Emil Enochson, all of Moffit.

Serving as honorary pallbearers will be R. V. Corbin, Carl Forster and Trevor Hanes, all of Sacramento, Calif.; Howard Kershaw, John Welch and Everett Dutton, all of Menoken; Harry Potter and Louis Peterson, both of Bismarck; H. E. Wildfang, Sterling, and William Mills, Moffit.

Mr. Doan died in a Richmond, Va., hospital Tuesday. The body is at the Boelter Funeral Home.
