Obituary From Ottumwa Courier, April 24, 1970:

Carl F. Maring, 79, of 532 S. Madison, died Thursday at 5:55 p.m. at Ottumwa Hospital following a three-year illness. He had been an employee of John Deere Ottumwa works for 28 years prior to retirement in 1952. He also operated a lawn mower repair shop at his home.

The son of George R. and Liona L. Parker Maring, he was born Nov. 21, 1890, in Ottumwa. He had been a resident of Wapello County most of his life. He was a member of Free Methodist Church. His marriage to Ola A. Cook took place on July 4, 1912, in Ottumwa. She died in 1961. He then married Grace E. Barnhill on Dec. 30, 1963, in Ottumwa. She survives.

Also surviving are two sons, Forrest Maring of Everett, Wash.; Oral Maring of San Antonio, Texas; one daughter, Mrs. Vivian Bowling of Lomita, Calif.; nine grandchildren; several great-grandchildren; several step-grandchildren; four stepsons, Leo, Wesley E. and David Barnhill, all of Ottumwa, and Robert Barnhill of Des Moines; two stepdaughters, Mrs. Adaline Banning of Des Moines and Mrs. Beluah [sic] Pearson of Ottumwa; three brothers, Wesley Maring of Ottumwa, Howard Maring of Decatur, Ill.; and Joseph Maring of Kewanee, Ill.; and one sister, Mrs. Bertha L. Burnett of Ottumwa. One son preceded him in death.

Services will be Monday at 1:30 at Johnson Funeral Chapel with the Rev. George Kock of Free Methodist Church in charge. Burial will be in Shaul Cemetery. Pallbearers are Leo, Wesley, Robert and David Barnhill, Keith Pearson and Arlan Banning.
