Flight Lieutenant Vincent Parker was born in Durham England and went to live in Queensland Australia wtih family having been orphaned.

He was educated at Bohleville State School

He came to England in 1938 to join the RAF and when he completed his traing he joined 234 Squadron at Leconfield Yorkshire.
He was shot down by Bf110's and baled out from his Spitfire R 6985 near the Isle of Wight on Aug 15th but was picked up by a German launch and taken to Cherbourg.

He became a POW at Dulag Luft Oberusel Frankfort and on June 1 1941 18 POWs tunnelled their way out but all recaptured by 3000 police. It is likely Parker was one.

After more escape tries he was sent to Oflag IVc Colditz where his reputation was with locks ever ready to help others escape.

Released by US forces in April 1945 he returned to England and was posted to Millfield to train on Tempests.

He was killed in a Flying Accident on Jan29 1946 at Duddo
