Mary Ellen Bryan Bird, age 88, beloved and devoted wife, mother, grandmother and great grandmother died September 13, 1999 surrounded with the love of her family.

Mary was born June 17, 1911 in Erda, Utah to William Henry and Emily Lindberg Bryan. She was the fifth of nine children in a very close farm family. She married Rexford Harry Bird on February 14, 1929 in the Salt Lake LDS Temple. Rex and the 11 children who blessed their home were the joy of Mary's life. Her example of love and sacrifice for her family has inspired her family and will continue to inspire them for generations to come. Mary had a strong testimony of the gospel of Jesus Christ and relied much upon her Father in Heaven as she cared for her family. Mary is survived by her sister, June Alcorn, her sisters-in-law, Ilene Bryan, Holleen Bryan, Ruth Bryan and June Bryan Davis; her children, Joan Merrill (Don), Paul (Carol), Ronald (Lamona), Mary Lou Pack (Wallace), Donna Hanke (Fred), Robert (Dawn), Dale, William (Penny), Dan (Patricia), 55 grandchildren and 112 great grandchildren. Mary is enjoying a sweet reunion with her family members who preceded her in death, her husband, Rex, her sons, Gerald Rex and Oren, her grandson, Thomas Bird, her granddaughter, Julie Ann Overy, and brothers and sisters, Thelma Hansen, Farrell, Arthur, Maggie Culley, Mazel Burr, Ray and Aron.

The burial took place at Tooele City Cemetery on September 14, 1999. memorial services and the dedication of the grave will take place on Monday, September 20, 1999 at 11 a.m. in the South Cottonwood 4th LDS Ward Chapel, 980 Revere Circle, Salt Lake City. Friends may call from 10:15 to 11 a.m. at the Chapel.
