Paul L. Weller, 49, of Portland, died unexpectedly Monday morning while fishing near Trenton.

Paul was born January 6, 1961, in Ionia, a son of Norbert "Bud" and Marilyn (Randall) Weller. He was a boilermarker, a member of the Boilermarker Union No. 169 and an avid outdoorsman.

Surviving are his wife, Darlene; three children, Jason (Erin) Weller of Portland, Bobbi (Terry) Platte of Greenville and Chuck Schafer (Jamie Norton) of Grand Ledge; five grandchildren, Gabe, Gavin and Gwen Platte, Hannah and Braden Schafer (and their mother, Angela Brown-Schafer); two brothers, Pete (Becky) Weller of Sunfield and Darrel (Sarah) Weller of Freesoil; and the extended Comstock and Weller families.

Services 2 p.m. Friday at Barker-Leik Funeral Home, Mulliken, with Pastor Judy Scholten officiating. Interment will be in Meadowbrook Cemetery.

The family will receive friends from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. Thursday at the funeral Home.
