Edward Wood, 79, a longtime resident of the Banks community, died Sunday morning, May 18, 2014 at the Marquis Care of Forest Grove.

EDWARD HORACE "ED" WOOD was born on June 15, 1934 in Agate Beach, Oregon, the son of the late Herbert and Marvel (Brown) Wood. He was raised and received his education in the Agate Beach community, having been a graduate with the Newport High School.

He was united in marriage to Patricia J. Mortimore on March 18, 1958 in Hillsboro, Oregon. Following their marriage they made their home in Agate Beach until 1965, when they moved to the Gales Creek community. They later divorced.

Ed worked as the Owner and Operator of the Banks Flea Market since the early 70's. During the years that he worked and lived in Banks, he met and made many, many friends.

Among his special interests, he enjoyed fishing, playing keno, family barbeques and golfing.

Ed is preceded in death by his parents, Herbert and Marvel Wood.

Family members include the mother of his children and lifelong friend, Patricia Wood of Gales Creek, Oregon; his four children and their spouses, Deanna (Wood) and Scott Andrews, of Gaston, Oregon; Edward A. "Eddie" and Judi Wood of Yamhill, Oregon; Sandra Wood, of Newberg, Oregon and Julie Wood, of Kenniwick, Washington and his brother, Herb Wood, of Eugene, Oregon.

Also surviving are his nine grandchildren, Chelsea, Hannah, Rexx, Otto, Joshua, Nicole, Matthew, Jacob and Rebecca; ten great grandchildren and his niece, Brenda Wood.

The family suggests that remembrances may be contributions to the Bonnie L. Hayes Small Animal Shelter, 1901 SE 24th Avenue, Hillsboro, Oregon 97123, in his memory.
