Peggy L. Hopkins, resident of Lewiston, passed away quietly May 21, 2014, at her home, of causes related to age. She was 78.

Peggy was born Feb. 18, 1936, in Smithville, Okla. She was one of five children of Coy A. and Clara M. Chatham.

She married Stephen H. Hopkins on Dec. 18, 1955, in Smithville. During the 50 years that Steve and Peggy were married, Peggy followed Steve to New Mexico, Alaska, Colorado, Idaho and back to Alaska, where Steve passed away in 2005.

In 2012, Peggy moved back to Idaho due to ill health, where she lived with her daughter, Jacque Hopkins-Walton, at the time of her death.

She was cremated and her ashes will be spread over Sea Otter Sound in southeast Alaska, just as Steve's ashes were spread.

She is survived by her daughters, Jacque and Margaret A. (Anne); seven grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren; twin sister Betty Hancock of Mississippi; and brother, Raymond Chatham of Smithville, Okla.

She was preceded in death by her parents; brothers Doyle and Charles Chatham; and son Stephen H. Hopkins Jr.
