Among the early settlers in Stambaugh were John and Anna Anderson who came from Sweden to Stambaugh in 1882. John and Anna Anderson had seven children, all of whom settled in Stambaugh and Stambaugh Township. Their children included Godfrey and Enock (twins).
Godfrey married the former Clara Ende, sister of Robert Ende, the first white child born in Stambaugh. He was employed in the woods, farmed, and later worked at the roundhouse for the Chicago and Northwestern Railroad. He was also a taxidermist. The couple had seven children: Goldine (Baumgartner), Roy, Milton, Baynard and Beatrice (twins), and Lillian and Lydia, also twins.

Mr. and Mrs. Rudolph Ende were presented with a son whom they named Robert. Robert was the first child born in the village of Stambaugh. His sister Clara later married Godfrey Anderson, the cousin of Anne Flink Parker, the first girl child born in Stambaugh.
