Winston Eugene (Gene) Williams born September 7, 1930 in Danville, Kansas to Earl Ellsworth Williams and Fern Inez Seyb-Williams.

Gene attended grade school and high school in Harper, Kansas. He attended college at Wichita State University and joined the US Air Force in 1950 and served in the Korean War.

Gene and Jeanne Gaither-Williams married February 6, 1955 in Anthony, Kansas. They lived on a farm north of Harper, Kansas. Gene and his family farmed together until 1968. Beginning in 1968 Gene worked for the US Department of Agriculture as the County Executive Director in Olathe, Kansas and transferred to the Montgomery County office in Independence, Kansas in 1972. In 1993 he retired from the US Department of Agriculture and continued to farm in the Independence area.

Gene loved the outdoors and loved to have the kids and grandkids come and enjoy the farm, and sometimes found a job for them. He was an avid supporter of the American Royal Livestock Show in Kansas City and assisted with the livestock judging from 1971 through 1998.

Gene was preceded in death by parents Earl and Fern Williams, his brother Keith and sister Carolyn.
Survivors include his wife Jeanne of Bartlesville, Oklahoma, his son Mitch Williams and wife Kitty of The Woodlands, Texas, daughter Vicki Walter and husband Richard of Roseville, California, Jan Baker and husband Rusty of Independence, Kansas, and grandchildren Kevin Williams and wife Kelly of New Orleans, Louisiana, Nathan Berg of Tulsa, Oklahoma and Andrew Baker of Independence, Kansas. Other surviving relatives are brothers Kenneth and Ferris Williams and sister Glennis Latta, all of Harper, Kansas.
