Jeanne Williams passed away on May 18, 2016 in Independence, Kansas.

Elsie Jean (Jeanne) Williams was born May 14, 1934 in Anthony, Kansas to Harvey Eugene Gaither and Elsie Florence Doebbeling. She attended junior and senior high school in Anthony, Kansas, graduating in 1952. After graduation she moved to Wichita and worked at the 4th National Bank while attending Wichita Business College.

Jeanne married Gene Williams on February 6, 1955 in Anthony, Kansas. They lived on a farm north of Harper, Kansas and soon started a family. Jeanne played a significant supporting role in the farm operations as well as working at Kansas Gas and Electric. Gene and Jeanne exited hands-on farming in 1968 when Gene began working for the US Department of Agriculture which took them to Olathe, Kansas and eventually Independence, Kansas where they resided for over 30 years. Jeanne worked several part-time jobs throughout the years including employment at a pharmacy, credit union and hospital. However, she most enjoyed raising the family and actively supporting the grandkids.

Jeanne was a member of the Daughters of the American Revolution (DAR) and regularly volunteered at Tuesday House resale/thrift shop, a Methodist organization benefiting girls in the Bartlesville area through an after school and summer outreach academy. She loved documenting all things family with her video camera that captured numerous important occasions and celebrations of life. They will be treasured for many years to come.

Jeanne was preceded in death by her husband Gene, parents Harvey Eugene and Elsie Florence, sister Mauritia Ellis and brother Harvey Eugene Gaither Jr.

Survivors include her son Mitch Williams and wife Kitty of The Woodlands, Texas, daughter Vicki Walter and husband Richard of Roseville, California, daughter Jan Baker and husband Rusty of Independence, Kansas, and grandchildren Kevin Williams and wife Kelly of New Orleans, Louisiana, Nathan Berg and wife Jamie of Tulsa, Oklahoma and Andrew Baker of Emporia, Kansas, and three great grandchildren, Bella, Cash and Piper Jean Berg. Jeanne is also survived by her sister, Shirlee Hoopes of Anthony, Kansas.
