In 1732 the Mingle family settled in Berks county. In 1802 they moved to Centre county, David was quite young, he joined the Army in the War of 1812, he was a member of Capt. Henry Miller's company stationed at Marcus Hook. At the close of the war he learned the art of shoemaking, he married Miss Grove, of Union county. In 1823 he settled in Mifflinburg, later moving to Haines township. His wife died in Centre County. He had 12 children, the children of his first wife were Henry A Mingle, Samuel G Mingle a boot & shoemaker who died at Lock Haven & Susan Mingle Motz who died at Woodward Centre Penn. 12/11/1897.
